This group
is offered for children ages 2-4 who are learning to talk, already
talking or just needing extra practice talking to their peers.
The group begins with a ‘circle time’ and oral motor
‘wake up’ time and then the children get to practice
their skills! Sensory
activities are incorporated into the group, and there are many
activities for the children to interact with peers their same
age.
Objectives for ‘Let’s
Talk’:
To promote social language (nonverbal and verbal), in the areas
of:
1. Taking turns
2. Making eye contact
3. Initiating conversation
4. Maintaining topic of conversation
5. Identifying nonverbal body language of peers and feelings
6. Regulating behavior (emotional and physical) around peers and
within limits of a structured setting.
7. Using verbal language to communicate with peers and participate
in activities.
To encourage language and motor processing through typical group
activities
To facilitate skills which start and build friendships through
appropriate social play
To encourage self confidence in all children
