Thirty million children, ages 5-17, participate in sports and many young athletes are now competing year round with sport specific training. These factors have increased injuries in young athletes. These injuries range from overuse injuries and strains to much more serious injuries such as tearing of ligaments and tendons.

Risk Factors:

• Joint tightness secondary to child’s bone growing more quickly than muscles
• Prior injury
