The
focus of the A.L.E.R.T. is to help each participant learn
to regulate his or her level of alertness so that he or she can
perform optimally in any environment or situation. The participants
will learn how to identify their level of alertness (low, just
right, high), how to adjust it when necessary, and how to maintain
their alert state at the most appropriate level. When a child
is able to independently regulate his or her arousal level (or
alert state), he or she is able to adapt and learn accurately
and efficiently.
The A.L.E.R.T. Program
will encourage positive social interactions in a group setting.
The program will also promote increased self-awareness, improved
self-esteem, and improved peer interaction skills.
This program is ideal
for children who have difficulty maintaining attention to task
or have difficulty focusing in busy environments. It is also great
for children who seem to have fluctuating moods (ups and downs)
throughout their day or those who have difficulty understanding
how to act in various situations.
