Happy Handwriter Camp

This camp is offered for children who will enter grades K-3rd+ in the fall who already know how to print at least 75% of their upper and lower case letters. The group will begin with activities that regulate attention span and activate the brain to prepare for fine motor activities. Learning to write letters with correct grasp, praxis, sizing, and spacing will occur through a variety of fun games and sensory experiences. Homework will be provided after each session.

The group runs 2x per week for a total of 12 sessions.

Times: Group 1: Wednesday/Friday 9:00-10:00 (grades K-2nd)

Group 2:Wednesday/Friday 10:00-11:00 (grades 3+)

Dates: July 9, 2008-August 15, 2008

Cost: $350, price includes handwriting workbook

*A $30 screening fee applies for all children who aren't currently enrolled in OT at ABC
$100 non-refundable deposit due by May 12, 2008
Full payment is due by July 2, 2008
***10% will be given to clients who pay in full by May 28, 2008***

Groups: 1 occupational therapist and therapy students per every 4-5 children, depending on the overall needs of the group

This camp will promote printing competence in the following areas:

• Letter Formation
• Letter Sizing
• Word Spacing
• Overall Ledgiblity
• Functional and efficient grasping patterns on writing utensils
• Encourage self confidence in writing and school tasks
• Make writing fun!

Children must receive a brief handwriting screening from an OT prior to the start of the camp. Inability to demonstrate knowledge of letters, severe
attention or behavior issues, or lack of receptive language skills may require more intensive, one on one therapy that is not available in a group setting.
